Three New Releases in the KOD Store!

Kiss of Death is proud to announce three new releases today! See when we have a few records that are coming out around the same time, we like to put them all up for sale together. This way if you want to order a couple, or all of them, you'll save a few bucks on shipping. Check out the details below:

KOD 53 - O' Pioneers/The Anchor split 7"

This is a rerelease of the split 7” that was originally put out in 2008 with snazzier artwork. Side A showcases O Pioneers in their original 2 piece lineup and the song starts out as a midtempo jaunt of punk rock energy before careening down the road to darker and more dissonant territory. This song features Eric Soloman at his most furious and accusatory as he shouts his frustration at people that won’t stand up for themselves. The Anchor brings a couple of tracks of gruff punk featuring bouncing basslines and hoarsely shouted vocals to their side of the split. I’d imagine that if Jersey’s Best Dancers and Forever and Counting had a baby, it would look a lot like these songs by The Anchor.

KOD 51 - Fellow Project/Thousandaires split 7"

Somewhere between angular post-punk and straight up punk rock lays Fellow Project. Featuring members of Bridge and Tunnel, the band’s songs feature jangly riffs, staggered tempos, monumental buildups and good old upbeat sing-alongs with male and female dueling vocals. They sound novel and familiar all at the same time. Thousandaires approach the same idea with a slightly more upbeat and straightforward take. The vocals call to mind early Hot Water Music, but the song writing is less traditional and more punk at the same time. Noodling guitars scale the fretboards, but not in a crummy tech metal way. This shit is still punk.

KOD 48 - Pretty Boy Thorson and the Slow Death/The Strait A's split 7"

It’s Minneapolis meets Minneapolis on this 6 song split 7” full of catchy pop punk. If you like “Ohhhs,” “Ahhhs,” and dueling male/female vocals then the 4 tracks of fast-paced Ramones style pop punk that The Strait A’s bring to this split are going to be right up your alley. Complete with songs about brainless friends and revenge on an ex, this stuff is just pissed enough to avoid sounding too sugary. Pretty Boy Thorson brings a similar Lookout Records styled approach to their first of their tracks. It’s just as catchy but with a more deliberate pace and a gruffer vocal approach. They close out the record with a cover of “Ray of Sunshine” by short-lived Berkeley based band Go Sailor.

We also have very few copies of the New Bruises/The Measure (sa) - split 7" (1 7" version).

Don't forget to check out a lot of our newest releases and distro items. Glenn marked down a lot of stuff and there are a ton of sales going on. To get all of this stuff go to our STORE.

Interview with Bryon Lippincott and Eric Soloman at Reax!

So maybe yesterday's post shouldn't have been called the "Harvest of Hope Wrap-Up" because I should have had the foresight to see that a bunch of cool stuff to post will be popping up in the coming weeks concerning the festival. Well it already happened. Check out this audio interview with our main man (and my boss) Bryon Lippincott and Eric from O PIONEERS that was conducted Sunday at Harvest of Hope. They talk about the label, highlights of the festival and their cunning plan to try to convince ANVIL to release a record on KOD. Go HERE and click on Day 2 to listen.

Harvest of Hope wrap-up!

For all of you that attended Harvest of Hope, I don't really have to go into detail about how awesome it was. However, this post is NOT for you (It's for those of you who didn't make it), but I'll do my best and keep it brief by letting some pretty images do the talking. Bryne from PUNKNEWS.ORG was there covering the festivities and took some cool pictures of most of the KOD bands that preformed.
