In the case of Caves, the female is Louise Hanman, who also plays guitar, backed up by a particularly tight rhythm section of Dave Brent on drums and Jonathan Minto on bass." - Punknews.org

The band, fronted by Jesse Thorson and joined by punk heroes Paddy Costello, Mikey Erg, Annie Sparrows and Jonny C, just recently wrapped up the recording of a brand new full-length entitled "Born Ugly Got Worse" that will be available via Kiss of Death Records this fall. New STATIC RADIO NJ album coming this fall!

We are beyond excited to say that we will be working with Static Radio NJ on their new album this coming fall. The band is just receiving their masters today and from the mixes we've heard, it's going to be a great one. The band has managed to retain the elements that make them recognizably SRNJ, while also taking some darker twists and turns in the vein of Nirvana. The juxtaposition is a really cool one. This is what bassist Vic Castello had to say about the album:

"The album is called "We Are All Beasts" and the songs are quite different from anything else we've ever released. There's really no reason for this other than it's just what came out when we started writing it. We also have a new drummer on the record, Chris Krause, and regardless of the style, we're really happy with the way it came out and hope that people enjoy it. We're stoked to be working with Kiss of Death on it, and hopefully we'll get to do a good amount of touring on it when it drops."

Look for the band to release songs and artwork later this summer!

The Soviettes LP II reissue coming next week!

In case you hadn't heard, Kiss of Death Records is super stoked to be releasing a completely remastered reissue of THE SOVIETTES LP II. The legendary Minneapolis band had originally released the album on Adeline Records (who are also re-releasing the CD), and we've been given the honor of handling their vinyl. LP II is a blast of energetic, classic sounding (mostly) female fronted pop punk. There is a super authentic 80's vibe to this record with both the production and song writing calling to mind aspects of Blondie and the Go Go's. However, the band isn't always tearing at break neck speeds, they slow it down on a couple of more melancholy and rocking tracks like "Tonight" and "Whatever You Want." Absolutely Crucial Record! Check out a video of their song "#1 is Number Two" HERE!! And the preorder for the record is already available HERE! We already have all of the parts in stock, so preorders will ship by May 31st on the official release date.

1994! "Most Deaf" 7" out now! Summer Tour with Algernon Cadwallader and Snowing!

Today is the official release of the "Most Deaf" 7" by Lancaster PA's 1994! The two song 7" is available on vinyl or digital download and can be found right HERE in our store. For more info on what to expect from the release and tons of tourdates from their summer tour (w/ Algernon Cadwallader and Snowing) keep reading below:

Lancaster PA’s 1994! are a heavy duo de force. The songs on "Most Deaf" just don’t let up. A plethora of attitude with belted out hoarse vocals, soaring riffs, and grooving tempos make it reminiscent of a lot of the great emocore bands of the 90's. (Yeah "emocore," because that's what kids called it back then, before it became a generic, over produced, over hyped, fashionable, and haircut driven bastardization that everyone knows today.) Time to stop ranting, trust us this is totally worth checking out!

BANGERS "SMALL PLEASURES" AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW

It is hard to describe how excited we are to be involved with the new full length by Cornwall, England's BANGERS in just a few short weeks. The record will be available on Specialist Subject in the UK/Europe and with KOD in the US.
***AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW!*** NORTH AMERICA/WORLD or UK/EUROPE

This PRE-ORDER will ship on May 9th, 2011 and buying this record will come to a Free Instant Download

Listen to the 1st track,:

The new BANGERS album "Simple Pleasures" packs intelligent lyrics and tight musicianship into a mid-tempo punk rock melee. The record is littered with subtle hooks, head-bobbing breakdowns, and endearingly gruff vocals. Couple those components with an amazingly warm sound it makes this full length incredibly authentic sounding. It's hard to put a finger on what one thing that makes you want to listen to "Small Pleasures" on repeat but I guess that is what makes it so darn perfect. Great music for drinking to, or driving to, just try not to do them both at the same time.

Store news/missing orders

So as you can see we have moved our store. If you are missing an order from the old zencart store it's been eaten by the lords of the internet. Please email me your order with shipping address and all the detail I need to get it into yr hands. Ok? sweet!

Looks like it should all be rolling along a lot smoother over here at KOD on the mail order end with the help of our new friends over @ limitedpressing.com. No more late/missing orders due to the store not telling me you were even in it and did make an order!! It kept logging at paypal, but no invoice/order would show up in the zencart store. So, sorry to all our loyal customer and new ones alike for the delays and complications on our end. We sincerely apologize for all the chaos.

I'm getting all the records and cds into our new store day by day so keep checking back to see whats new.

thanks for all the support over the last 6 years, keep spreading the word about us!
-Glenn

The Slow Death recording new LP with new lineup!

We're happy to announce that Minneapolis, Minnesota's THE SLOW DEATH are in the midst of recording an LP to be released on Kiss of Death sometime this summer. The new incarnation of the band consists of mainstays Jesse Thorson and Johnny C, but the band has now rounded out their lineup with the likes of Mikey Erg (every band), Paddy Costello (D4) and Annie Sparrows (The Soviettes) for the album. I can hear you creaming your jeans for this through the internet already. It's ok though. Don't be embarassed. We are too... but we're not wearing any jeans. Album art and songs to come, but until then you can check out their split with The Strait A's we released last year HERE.

New Webstore! Right here!

So our fearless leader Bryon has spent a good deal of time out of his busy schedule to switch over our webstore to a more functional and cleaner looking alternative. What does this mean for you our loyal customers? Well firstly any bookmarks you have in your browsers for the old Zen Cart store are no longer going to be functional. Secondly, all of our free downloads and links to our products can now also be found on our release pages. We heard the complaints about logging in, giving an address etc to download the free KOD releases and we went ahead and fixed that for you. No login, just click the link and enjoy a generous helping of tunes. We're currently working on getting the rest of our webstore stock up there, but for the time being we will only be hosting KOD releases until we complete the switch. Now don't be a dingus and show how thankful you are by buying something!

PS Oh yeah. Glenn helped too. And he's adding the distro stuff as we speak, so there.

Unwelcome Guests northeast tour and more!

UNWELCOME GUESTS seem to be kicking it into high gear these days and I've got a bunch of awesome news to report on the subject. Firstly, in just over a week Micah will be performing acoustic versions of Unwelcome Guests songs at an upcoming show in their hometown of Buffalo. This is a rarity and Loved Ones frontman Dave Hause is also on the bill. Should be really cool, so if you live in the area you should definitely check it out. If you don't live in the area I can console you with this second tidbit. They've also booked a spring tour of the northeast! The band just recently released a split on Kiss of Death with England's THE 255s which we think is pretty great. You can purchase the 7" or download it for free HERE . If you dig them a whole lot, they'll also have a split 7" with Sick Sick Birds out in the next couple of months on Traffic Street Records which we're all sure is killer too. Three new records in the store!

We're happy to announce the release of 3 brand new records for sale through KOD today! More info and links to purchase below!

KOD 45

ARMS ALOFT / THE MANIX split 7"

Photobucket

1. ARMS ALOFT - Doubledranopercocetnoice
2. ARMS ALOFT - Skinny Love
3. THE MANIX - Fourida
4. THE MANIX - The Greatest Thieves

Wisconsin's ARMS ALOFT bring a double dose of loud gruff anthemic punk in the vein of Dillinger Four. It's melodic, driving and the vocals are belted out with serious intensity. THE MANIX provide an excellent flip side to this split by drawing on similar influences with equally successful yet somehow different results. The Manix have a few more whoas in their songs, but fans of one side should be stoked on the other. Both of these bands play the type of good, tight shit we've come to expect from America's midwest punk scene.

Buy it HERE.

KOD 64

WAX PHANTOM / CRIMINAL CULTURE split 7"

Photobucket

1. CRIMINAL CULTURE - I Wish all my Friends Could Hear this Song
2. CRIMINAL CULTURE - No one on Degrassi Ever Stays Posi
3. WAX PHANTOM - F- My Bod
4. WAX PHANTOM - Every Reggae Day
5. WAX PHANTOM - Don't Bother to Bury Me

Criminal Culture is sometimes fast, sometimes rocking, sometimes mellow, but they always maintain a catchy and dynamic vibe. While they manage to compose their songs with interesting and intricate dueling guitar lines, the focus is always on the vocals and the heartfelt lyrics. Sling your arms around your buddies and sing along! Plus they're from Tampa. Bonus! Wax Phantom features members of Iron Chic, Down in the Dumps, Jonesin' and Small Arms Dealer. Their side of the split is a little more straightforward at times with "F - My Bod" dealing heavily in bar chords and dueling vocals. "Don't Bother to Bury Me" has a much darker vibe until that giant chorus kicks in to bring it home. Really well written stuff here.

Buy it HERE.

KOD 65

UNWELCOME GUESTS / THE 255s Split

Photobucket

1. UNWELCOME GUESTS - Just the One
2. UNWELCOME GUESTS - Patience
3. THE 255s - Caffeine
4. THE 255s - Fencesitter

Unwelcome Guests are back to follow up their "Don't Go Swimming" LP with 2 new songs of melodic rocking indie/punk. It's uptempo, it's catchy and it's fun. Think a more posi sounding Lemonheads. The 255s come all the way from Northern England to deliver a double dose of indie/pop/rock complete with fuzzed out guitars and driving drums.

Buy it HERE.
